how God called me

vocational stories of our sisters

“In the hidden recesses of the human heart the grace of a vocation takes the form of a dialogue. It is a dialogue between Christ and an individual, in which a personal invitation is given. Christ calls the person by name and says: “Come, follow me.” This call, this mysterious inner voice of Christ, is heard most clearly in silence and prayer. Its acceptance is an act of faith.” (John Paul II)

A vocation is God’s unique invitation, addressed to individual persons from which a free response is expected. God calls such persons to a life according to the evangelical counsels.  The response is the result of a discernment process and opens up for a life-long process, a journey of faith.

The woman left her water jar and went into the town and said to the people, “Come see a man who told me everything I have done. Could he possibly be the Messiah?” (John 4:28-29).

Could He be asking you to leave your water jar?
